IS Cardio Sabotaging Your Physique?
If you're someone who loves both cardio and weight training, you may have wondered whether it's better to do them together or separately.
While doing both types of exercises is great for overall fitness.
"Doing Cardio Immediately After Strength Training Could Sabotage Your Muscle Growth.....Here's why"
Aerobic training, such as cardio, and anaerobic training, like weightlifting, have opposing physiological adaptations on the muscles. Weight training turns on a process called mTOR, which is a necessary signal for muscle growth.
However, if you do cardio immediately after strength training, you turn on another adaptive signal called AMPK, which turns off mTOR.
This is called the interference effect. Any cardio that lasts longer than 15 minutes and makes you short of breath will cause this effect in most people.
To avoid sabotaging your muscle growth, you should split up your cardio and weight training into different workouts that are at least 6 hours apart or do them on completely different days.
This will allow your muscles to recover and grow without interference.
So, the next time you plan your workouts, make sure to keep these things in mind. Separate your cardio and weight training sessions and give your muscles the time they need to recover and grow. By doing so, you'll be on the path to building stronger, healthier, and more toned muscles.
