The Best Time To Eat For Muscle Growth!
Are you frustrated with your lack of muscle growth? You might be putting all of your effort into your workouts but not focusing enough on your nutrition. Your diet plays a crucial role in muscle growth, and if you're not consuming the right number of calories at the right time, you could be hindering your progress.
So, how can you set up your nutrition for massive muscle growth? The answer lies in timing your calorie intake.
First, you need to calculate your weekly calorie requirements. This can vary depending on your body type, weight, and fitness goals (See MuscleLab). Once you have that number, it's time to start thinking about when you should be consuming those calories.
To maximize muscle growth, you should consume most of your calories during the anabolic window, which is the period of time when your muscles are adapting and growing from your training.
For intermediate lifters, this window is around 24 hours after your training session. Therefore, you need to consume most of your weekly calories during this time to fuel muscle growth.
Let's say you train three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (see video for illustration). You should be consuming most of your calories after your workouts on those days, when your muscles need the fuel to grow. This means that you can keep your calorie intake lower during the times when your muscles are not growing.
It's essential to note that your anabolic window is not limited to a single day. Therefore, don't think of your calorie distribution in terms of days, but rather in terms of your growth periods. As a beginner, your anabolic window can last up to three days, so you might not need to be as advanced with your calorie timing. However, if you've been lifting for a while, you need to be more careful with your bulks and cuts.
In summary, if you want to set up your nutrition for massive muscle growth, you need to consume most of your weekly calories during your anabolic window.
This means eating more after your workouts when your muscles need the fuel to grow, and consuming fewer calories when your muscles are not growing. By following this approach, you'll fuel muscle growth and start seeing the results you desire.
